DescriptionAn illustration from "Old Tales Re-told: The Devon Boy Who Became a Gypsy King" written and illustrated by Fortunino Matania. It was a retelling of the adventures of the rogue Bampfylde-Moore Carew (here Bampfylde-More) that was first published in 1745. The caption for this drawing reads: "With all the solemnity and splendour due to the honourable families to which they belonged, they were married at Bath." The image is 12 x 7 1/8" and was drawn with pencil, ink washes, and white body colour on grey illustration board.Social/Sharing |

Very painterly. I love the white accents Matania uses and how they bring his illustrations to life. I hope to see it in person in September.
