I remember buying this when I was a kid, and it left a huge impression on me. I couldn't believe the new Lex Luther and Braniac! It was $1.50 back then, and that was a LOT of money at the time, but it was the 45th Anniversary issue and I had to have it!

A fans has had this page since day one, and I was fortunate enough to be able to buy it from him. It's by the master Gil Kane, and it's beautiful!

Some history on the story itself:

Special 45th anniversary issue. Cover pencils by Gil Kane, inks by Dick Giordano. "Luthor Unleashed!", script by Cary Bates, pencils by Curt Swan, inks by Murphy Anderson; Barely alive after his latest fight with Superman, Luthor heads to Lexor to recover, where he meets his son for the first time; Meanwhile, back on Earth, one of Luthor's robots takes revenge in his master's stead. Luthor illustration by George Perez. Happy 45th Anniversary, Superman! article by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Congratulations, Superman! illustration by Joe Shuster. "Rebirth!", script by Marv Wolfman, art by Gil Kane; With Superman's unwitting help, Brainiac escapes his prison, experiences the depth and breadth of the universe, and reforms as an entirely new kind of being; Then Brainiac lures Superman to Systus 2, where he robs the hero of his powers, and greets him in his new form for the first time. I remember this issue well, and the reveal was worth the money spent. Congratulations on getting a splash from this great issue.
