DescriptionSOLD AT AUCTION FOR $389!6.5x9.25" sheet of stiff paper has pen and ink original art by Syd Shores (1913-1973) depicting full body image of The Black Rider, a Western character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in "All-Western Winners" #2 (Winter 1948), published by Marvel's 1940s forerunner, Timely Comics. Shores is known for his work on Captain America both during the 1940s Golden Age and the 1960s Silver Age of comic books, as well as his sublime inking, on full display here. Art has been inscribed in black felt tip pen "Best Wished From The Black Rider And Syd Shores." Sheet is evenly aged and top margin has a thin streak of adhesive from tape, but art is o/w Exc.
