DescriptionOne of my favorite periods of art by Hannigan and Janson complemented him so well! This cover is soooooo powerful! "I'd hoped to explore a girl named Yumiko, tonight, but she's gone... so instead I'm exploring a cave in search of Yumiko." "The Man With The Molten Touch" One night in Gotham City, Bruce Wayne enjoys a traditional Chinese massage from a girl named Yumiko. The massage soon evolves into something more romantic, but Bruce notices the Bat-Signal in the sky and he has to leave in a hurry with the promise of returning soon. Bruce leaves Yumiko in his bedroom while he goes down to the Batcave. Meanwhile, Superman takes care of some emergencies in Metropolis and a giant worm attacks a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Once the people have evacuated the ship, Superman saves them and the monster takes the ship undewater, to a cave near Gotham. A stalagmite formation comes to live and commands its worm brother to drop the ship in a pit of magma. The stalagmite then proceeds to extend a hand and melts the ship's oil container, causing the fuel to drop in the magma, releasing several other stalagmite creatures. After an hour of Batman's absence, Yumiko goes outside Wayne Manor and notices a green glow coming from a cave nearby. She goes to investigate and she is captured by the stalagmite creatures. In the meantime, Batman has captured a couple of crooks during a crime in progress and he makes haste to return home. However, on his way back, he is swarmed by hundreds of Bats, all of them out of control. Using a special sonar from the Batcave, Batman manages to control the bats and he contacts Superman to help him deal with the crazed animals. After Superman has relocated the bats to a safe area, the heroes investigate the souce of the bats' madness and the enter the same cave in which Yumiko was taken. As they get closer to the source, Superman gets weaker until the heroes finally find the core, filled with stalagmite creatures and Yumiko as prisoner of the leader of the monsters: Stalagron. It is then that Superman realizes that the power source of the creatures is a big chunk of Green Kryptonite. Social/Sharing |
