SOLD AT AUCTION FOR $5,321.80 NOV. 2017!

20x26.5" beautifully crafted custom frame holds artboard w/pen and ink original art for last page of "Superman" #137 (May 1960) featuring replica Superman Super-Menace (who looks exactly like Superman w/the addition of a simple domino mask) in five panels, confronting his hateful parents and reverting back to "Pure Force," wiping the three of them from existence. Superman bursts through wall in time to see Super-Menace's parents disappear and then for Super-Menace to vanish into thin air, leaving Superman to ruminate "And So Vanishes The Most Dangerous Menace To Law-And-Order The World Has Ever Known!" Art is by Curt Swan, best known as the artist most associated w/Superman during the Silver Age of comic books. Swan produced hundreds of covers and stories from the 1950s through the 1980s. Art has been inked by John Forte. "Superman" title stat paste-over at top w/DC logos. Top margin has handwritten issue number and month. Artboard remains clean and art is Exc. Art is further enhanced by great frame created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing various Silver Age DC Comics panels, including several featuring Superman. Bottom center has "Superman - DC - National Comics" logo plaque attached w/circular cut out area of frame containing pencil signature of Swan, which has been lacquered over. Neat display.
