As I type this I realize it's been 5 years since my last piece from Mahmud.

I've wanted to get a piece of one of his personal creations for a while, particularly as Dynamo 5 is one of my favorite indie books of all time.

My first though was Scrap/ Supervision or even Slingshot/Menagerie, or even Widowmaker but ultimately decided on the hilarious and aptly named War Chest. Who in many ways is at least partially something of a Powergirl by way of Image. Something about her name being Rebecca Hurley also was amusing.

Last I heard there were plans for War Chest to get a one shot but that's seemingly been on the back burner for a fair amount of years so much like Dynamo 5 itself unlikely to actually be released.

I suppose aside from the obvious what I really enjoyed was the character didn't really fit any established role for the comic. She wasn't a villain but was something of an antagonist. But not really a hero either, ultimately getting drafted by the government joining its super powered team the "Primaries".

Lastly the pose itself was chosen because much like Powergirl I don't want her to only be viewed in a *cough* certain way so I wanted to emphasize her strength referencing the famous Superman breaking off chains image that's been used from over the years. Hope you all enjoyed reading!

Beautiful piece! Havent gotten to a first Asrar yet but hes got some stuff on Cadence I'm circling. Thanks for the post and most importantly (to me anyway) thanks for sharing significance of the work!

Now I want to learn about and read Dynamo 5! War Chest is such a cool name for a character. Love her design. And Asrar nails this sketch. Wonderful work.
