Serene Omnipotence

I first saw the published version of this cover on a youtube comic preview channel. I thought it was absolutely beautiful and I bought the comic even though I didn't follow the storyline. Given all the intricate line work and the feel, I figured it was produced digitally, but I looked up the artist as I was unfamiliar with Mukesh's work. He didn't have a store or a rep that I could find so went along with my digital assumption and didn't give it a second thought. While refreshing new art on CAF, I saw his for sale listing under the new art section probably 3 seconds after he posted it, and had a message out to him 20 seconds later.

I was surprised to see it was a traditional pencil and ink piece. Well after some overseas customs adventures getting it shipped from India, I eagerly opened the packaging to a couple more surprises.

First, I know it's cliche, but pictures can't do it justice. The amount of pencil work and inking that went in on this piece is amazing.

Second, the piece is huge! The full artboard is 20.5" x 28", basically poster size. It's the largest original art I own. So imagine all the work that it would have taken to do this on a traditional 11 x 17 board, and triple it!

Had to use the camera on my phone and not a scanner for this one.

Wow, the amount of work that must’ve went into this is unbelievable...must be a sight in person!  Love the softer central figure surrounded by all of that crazy detailed linework!  Congrats!

So many great Xmen covers here. Though, this may be my favorite. For some reason it reminds me of a Marvel version of Poison Ivy.
