Where do I start with this one?
o.K. I�ll admit it, I didn�t know who Mark Raats was.
However, the Lake Como Comic Art Fest Facebook page started posting work from various guest so I got up to sped on his amazing work.
When I saw this one I had to have it. So really this is all LCCAF�s fault.
The scans do not do this piece justice. The likeness to Chadwick Boseman as T�Challa? The detail on the skin, necklace, boarder and that amazing composition of the overall image.
The mixed media pencils and markers blend seamlessly on water color paper (A3 size).
After meeting Mark at the show�s inaugural night, I was even more determined to get this piece. Mark doesn�t need to do art for a living; He has a �real world job�. He does art because he wants to do it and he is passionate about art and he is very good at what he does (both real world and art world). Ever so humble. He is a kind man who is living his dream. He worked hard at his success and deserves all the accolades.
He made sure that I was given a CoA for authenticity of the piece and provided advice on storage and how the art should be displayed. I was concerned about how I was going to get this delicate piece back home in a suitcase and he offered me a card board stiffener that along with everything else I had packed assisted in keeping the paper in pristine condition.
I know that this is the only time Mark has taken on this subject. So it�s the only Black Panther by mark Raats until someone commissions another one!
