Chinese cheongsam drawing by Olivier Vatine, New York 2017

     Last October at home in California, I get a text from my brother Stuart at New York Comic Con. Do I want a drawing from Olivier Vatine? I'd seen some stylish art in the bande dessinee Aquablue, Niourk, and other books imported by my brother's Stuart Ng Books. The price was right and it was easy to say yes. Without a specific character I identified with Vatine, I requested a woman wearing a Chinese cheongsam. Thanks to Stuart for conveying the request to Olivier. I love the great effort Olivier put into this drawing. Adding a dragon decoration to the dress, adding the fan and sword, and adding the color red to really make the image pop.
