Description

SOLD AT AUCTION FOR $3,559!

11-1/8x17-1/8" Marvel Comics artboard has Michael Golden's pen and ink original art for cover of "The Punisher" Vol. 2 #87, published by Marvel Feb. 1994. Golden's art features image of Jimmy Pierce as Hitman, a skull-themed vigilante who took over after The Punisher was presumed dead. Art shows Hitman on TV, as seen in live news broadcast, blasting away w/two rifles. TV set is exploding from gunshots. Artboard has "The Punisher" stat paste-over as well as "Suicide Run" subtitle stat paste-over that lines up w/part number stat paste-over on acetate sheet attached at bottom. This further lines up w/paper sheet attached at top w/color crosshair design that overlay acetate stat. Handwritten editorial notations on paper overlay. Golden has signed in black felt tip pen in "Direct Edition" box at lower left. Artboard has three staple holes along top margin and thin strip of surface paper lift along top but art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the issue this cover art was published for. Jason Taulbee Collection.
