Description

Commission of the Silver Age "Girl of Steel" by the definitive Supergirl of that era! Commission request of Mr. Mooney in the Fall of 2002. I had seen this classic pose on top of the Earth, but I'd asked that the artist place Supergirl on the moon instead. This piece has been framed and hanging in my home since 2003.

It truly was a pleasure meeting Jim Mooney and his wife Anne at MegaCon in 2002. His daughter, Nolle, shares a birthday with my daughter. Anyway, he was a super nice guy and I always enjoyed my interactions with him.

I commissioned several pieces by Mr. Mooney and he was always fantastic to work with and delivered the commissions promptly. I've always been impressed with the body of work at D.C. and Marvel that Mr. Mooney contributed. RIP.

For me, Mooney was the definitive Supergirl artist. Thanks for posting this beautiful piece.
