DescriptionAlright here's something of a weird experience overall. I can't call it a bad one per se (though definitely tiring) but largely I want to put it out there in case anyone sees the artists work as it might save some headaches. So here's some story time. I got a facebook friend request back in early April from Mr Foster advertising his art. He has a cute style but nothing I was particularly chomping to get. I asked and found out he's up to taking character requests to keep his weekly personal facebook auctions fresher. So those who are interested can follow and give character suggestions and just based off that he draws said characters however he wishes and if you're interested you can bid. It worked well enough so I figured I'd give it a shot. I decided to ask him to draw Mighty Endowed as she fits his cheesecakey art style well. So come that round of auctions I bid and won on said Mighty Endowed piece and decided just on a lark to buy the JL Kids piece he made on his own since I figure I can use it for something or other. I suggested him another character to see how he'd tackle that character and it worked out fairly well (I'll attach it if anyone's curious). Though I was lucky that first round I knew in the end there was a good chance I wouldn't be regularly winning these even if I suggested the characters but that was fine to me. (I was at the time doing a few rounds as a combined ongoing effort just as a birthday gift to myself back then) Now come that pieces time to end (1PM EST for me) I got the last bid in at 12:59. Another bidder put in a bid past that time at 1:00 PM and some seconds. So I figure OK whether he posted it then or not the artist will clarify who's the winner (in this case me). At 1:01 PM the artist said the auction would end in a minute (What? OH OK he probably means when he'll announce the winner fair enough, he's from Brazil and most of his statements are a bit weird translation wise, it happens). At 1:03 he announces the...other bidder won. At this point I was quite pissed off to say the least, I'd be fine with losing because of a last minute bidder, it happens, but I'm absolutely furious that my actual win was being ignored. Instead of posting in the public post about it (as much as I'd love to) I PM'ed him regarding it and that it was highly unprofessional but he insisted the other poster had the winning bid/time (he doesn't, even now I can check it). He offered to draw another piece of the character in question for the original piece's starting bid of $40 but considering this wasn't about the piece really but the awful handling of the auction I declined since at this point I didn't want anything to do with the artist anymore. He in the end didn't charge me for shipping and supposedly mailed the pieces around April 27th and stated they'd arrive to the post office (or perhaps to me) in roughly 20 days. After a month (28 days/4 weeks exactly) I noticed they still weren't here so I contacted him May 25 to see if there was any tracking on them (I figured there wasn't any since he didn't provide me any). He provided me one but sadly I rarely have time to call them (I work during most business hours in the day and that's largely when their customer service times are). And on June 4th for some reason he messaged me again thinking I'd want to bid on another piece by him. *eyeroll* After finally having a day I could do so on June 16th (whoo boy two weeks or so later) I called and received confusing news as that tracking # was not mine and told Mr Foster. June 18th he contacts me again providing two possible tracking #'s that could be mine (one of which was). When I finally get a chance again to call on June 23 I discovered it was apparently attempted to be delivered then returned to Brazil on June 8th... (No apparent delivery attempt I ever saw actually happened so that part's on USPS but I would've been able to catch it if I was given the correct tracking number early on) It came back to him July 10th and he mailed it again the 17th. He gave me its tracking # on the 18th. On the 28th it still wasn't in the hands of the USPS yet after he inquired with me (I was similarly checking). He contacted me again today (ironically while I was about to check again) only to be told the tracking # he gave me again wasn't mine (Minnesota, yay!). He eventually furnished another # which thankfully WAS mine and I ran to it. Seems like once again the package was apparently attempted to be delivered to me (but you know, it wasn't... the USPS for me are apparently very goddamn lazy or stupid) And that's how a package that was initially mailed to me on April 27th from Brazil didn't reach me until August 6th. At the end of the day I'll say this, I don't think Luiz Foster did any of this on purpose to hurt me but if you do ever get a piece from him be sure to do it through an ebay auction (his own personal sale advertisements should be fine) but don't bo Social/Sharing |
