Description

Offered here is the splash page to the story, "The Honor of Billy the Kid" that appeared in Toby Press' Billy the Kid Adventure Magazine #3 (Cover date February 1951). It was the first page of an 8-page story penciled and inked by Al Williamson.

This story revolves around a gang passing themselves off as Billy the Kid to get "protection money" and the real "Kid" decides to set things straight to protect his honor.

The art is done in pencil, brush, and ink with an image area of 13 x 18" (some call this large art), on a larger 15 x 22" piece of Toby 2-ply Bristol. The art is signed by Williamson in the lower right. One interesting tidbit is that Al added "Al Loves Pat" in a heart on the tree in the first panel. Pat was Al's first wife... and Toby removed that and his signature when it was printed.
