SOLD AT AUCTION FOR $4,720!

21x26" open frame contains acrylic on board original art for wraparound cover to "2099 Special: The World Of Doom" #1, published by Marvel in May 1995. Part of Marvel's popular 2099 series, which re-imagined established Marvel characters in one of many possible futures, often resulting in new persons taking over popular character mantles and some interesting if not bizarre interpretations. Art by the Brothers Hildebrandt features the 2099 versions of The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man alongside X-Men 2099 members Desert Ghost and Bloodhawk facing off against The Punisher and armed troops defending the White House, which has been taken over by Doom 2099, whose image towers over the White House in bkg. Both Greg and Tim Hildebrandt (1939-2006) have signed at lower left. Art is Exc. and ready for display as framed. A stunning piece loaded w/several characters from this popular mid-1990s Marvel imprint.
