Description

Tom Yeates: Alien Encounters #1 Complete 4-Page Story "Watcher from the Skies" (FantaCo Enterprises, 1981).
Yeates achieves an EC Comics-style excellence in a compact and merciless story about the 18th Century's slave-trafficking trade and a violent comeuppance for one crew of slavers. The story represents a transitional phase from the Underground Comix movement of the 1960s-70s into the independent-comics boom of the earlier 1980s. Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15".

Way back when, I bought this comic. I didn't know a lot of the artists (such as Tom Yeates) but a few of them became household names. The writing and art made this story a standout.
