Description

For a long time, it was hard to find Joey Mason original
published comic art. It still is, if you want the truth.
I'm thankful he was willing to let this cover go.

"Gun Fu: The Lost City" is a fun story that suffers from the
author’s decision to have his hero deliver his dialogue in a
(I’m guessing) hip-hop fashion. For me, anyway; I've heard
some people thought it was hilarious. Because the story is set
in 1936 and no one else speaks this fashion--imagine Indiana Jones
saying, "Who dat?" or "Yo! Peeps! Chill!"--and you'll get the idea.
It's Howard Shum's vision, as both writer and inker, so he can do
as he wants. I support that. I personally feel it would have been
more enjoyable without the wacky dialogue approach.

Everything else works. Joey Mason's artwork works best of all.

This is not the first appearance of Cheng Bo Sen, the hip-hop
speaking Hong Kong cop. It is the first appearance of Adrima, the
Jaguar Girl. Who doesn't care to be known as a Jaguar Girl, thank
you very much.

Pretty cool mashup of throwing every influence he had into the story.  The cartoony style holds it all together, keeps the tone of the humor, and makes it easily adaptable to other media.
