“Your Guided Light on the Darkest Night” by Chris Austin

When Chris Austin posted the gouache study “Your Guided Light on the Darkest Night” on his Instagram I couldn’t help but inquire. I had been wanting one of Chris’ pieces for a while and this one just caught my eye.

Chris’ work is always awesome. The way he uses color to illuminate the animals and environments he creates is just mesmerizing. In all of his work he includes that beautiful glowing effect that just draws the viewer into his surreal world. When I saw the wonderful fire fox on the moose’s head I was just drawn in. The detail on the ghostly glowing fox is fantastic and the way the light glows as it hits the moose’s fur is stunning. At first I thought about giving this piece to a certain moose lover I know but once I received it I don’t know if I can part with it. It’s just such a fantastic piece. I’ll definitely have to think on that decision but for now I’m going to enjoy it myself. This won’t be my last piece from this amazing artist especially if I do decide to give it away. Just another fantastic piece for the collection.
