You're absolutely right. The emotion she captures in her art is remarkable. Definitely glad I was able to swoop in and get this one. I can definitely see why you're on the hunt for more. I'm sure this won't be my last from her.
Thanks. I thought it was such a beautiful example of Lori's wonderful style and when I read what the piece represented to her it just made it a must have piece for me. Always love when there is so much more to the art than just a beautiful drawing.
You should definitely hit up her Instagram. She's been sharing quite a few available pieces on there recently.
Isn't it? Rod's work is so stunning. I'd been wanting one of his oil paintings for a long time. I couldn't be any happier with what he came up with. The perfect example for my collection.
Thanks, Jeff. Exactly. It's always intersting to see how an artist's work changes over the years as they learn new techniques and as you said mature. I'm definitely very happy to have this piece. I has been wanting a piece with Katchoo and Francine for a long while but just never had the chance to get one.
Thanks, Duke. Jel Ena's pieces are always phenomenal. Like you said it is amazing what she can do on such small scale. You can find her on instagram as jel_ena_art if you want to see more of her work and snag one for yourself.
Thanks, Duke. I loved how her hair was down in the other piece so as soon as I saw it up I asked for that revision. It makes all the difference. With the hair up she reminded me more of a Geisha and for my Kimono Girl pieces I try to steer away from them. I just like to have the Kimono Girls be ordinary ladies.
Thanks. I'm really proud of it. Always love hearing people's reactions. That's half the fun of sharing it.
Thanks, Mark. I know it's a great piece by an amazing artist. I wasn't justifying my reasons for purchasing it. More or less I was just sharing the thoughts that were going through my head at the time I posted it.
I seem to recall her posting that she uses pencil and acrylic for pieces like this. You can find more of her work on Instagram. She goes by the username _sashaira on there. I agree. It's always a little hard to interpret the expressions but they are always so beautifully done. For this piece upon first glance you see a slight smile and think she's happy but then upon further inspection you catch the glimmer in her eyes and just fell the sadness overcome you. It's just amazing the emotion she is able to portray.
After reading your comment I sent her an email about what had happened. It's probably a good thing that I didn't send one right away since it let me cool down a little. Hard telling what I might have said if I sent it when I was still very frustrated about the situation. From what it sounds like none of her other patrons have had this happen to there work. I guess that just means that there are some really poor postal workers between California and Indiana. Anyway I told her the situation and she said she would use a backer next time. I'm still supporting her but have just reduced the pledge. In a few months I'll probably move back up to a higher tier but for now I am going to put the money towards supporting another artist.
Looks like Mick Dundee could take a crocodile but was no match for Predator.
That is an awesome action page. I can't wait to see you post it. I love how dynamic Josh drew that pose. You can just feel the energy and emotion that Nara is feeling. That was definitely a great choice.
Thanks, Mark. I am sure there were quite a few that wanted this page. I was just lucky enough to have the first and second picks or I know I wouldn't have it now. I can't wait to see everyone else start posting the pages that they chose. There were so many fantastic pages in the final arc that everyone ended up with awesome pages. Josh definitely went all out in finishing the book and you can tell it was a labor of love.
Great piece. I really considered picking it up myself but decided to let someone else have a chance at one. ;)
Thanks, Bryan. Yeah I know you already now it but I have to praise Josh for being the best in the business. He always works with me so I can purchase major purchases like this one and I doubt he really knows how much I truly appreciate him working with me all the time. I know I wouldn't have been able to have won a cover any other way so I am definitely indebted to Josh for letting me acquire one that way. I'm sure Christian, the buyer of all the others so far, isn't too happy about it though. ;)
Thanks, Bryan. I had to pick it up since it added nicely to the run of pages I already had going. I now have 4 consecutive pages from Mel's rescue of Eve.
Yeah it really is a great page. I would have to say that this page was one of my grails. I never thought I would own this one. :)
Thanks, Bryan. Only time will tell but hopefully that splash will surface sooner rather then later.
I know what you mean. I wanted to pass but just couldn't do it. At least I let someone else have the opportunity to pick it up before I did. :P Congrats. Glad to hear the prelim went to a good home. :)
I know. What was I thinking? I mean who wants to try to save money when they can have a great piece like this. Saving is definitely overrated. ;)
Thanks. As I am sure you can tell Josh is my favorite artist. I just can't get enough of his work. I had actually inquired about this page from Josh and found out it was sold so when the owner listed it for sale I had to have it. I guess this page was meant to be in my collection.
It is definitely one of my favorite pages. I couldn't resist a sexy bikini clad Hazy.
Thanks. I absolutely love this page even though it is such a sad moment in the storyline. It was just luck that Josh gave me first dibs on choosing the art from this book. If it weren't for that I am sure I would have never had the chance at this great page. I am a huge fan of Hazy so it breaks my heart what happened to her but I love the page.
Love this one. Sexy and creepy as only Josh can do it.
Yep. I snagged it. :D Josh would probably have to get restraining orders to keep us away so he could let others have time at the table. haha
You're welcome, Bryan. Always glad to see pieces make their way to other collector's loving homes. I knew you appreciated her as much as I did so it was an easy decision to let her move on.
Thanks, Todd. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
Gorgeous piece. I love Terry's art nouveau pieces. Congratulations.
Very nice piece. I tried to win this one myself but my bid didn't go through.
Awesome piece. I had emailed David about time payments on the piece but you picked it up before he could get back to me. Let me know if you ever want to let it go.
Thank you so much for that comment, Evan. I am glad to hear that people are enjoying my collection as much as I do. I'm happy to hear that I was able to expose others to these fantastic artists. I feel like I have done what I set out to do.
Awesome. Thanks for letting me know, Steven. Will definitely have to buy a copy.
Thanks, Connie. I figured there were others eyeing it as well. I was just lucky enough to land it. :) I agree. I love Bill's style. His pieces are instantly recognizable as being his which is why I have wanted one of his paintings. I just love how every artist has their own style.
I have to agree with you there, Todd. Josh's work just keeps getting better and better each time I get a piece from him.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I feel very privileged to be the caretaker of this fantastic piece. It is one of those pieces that is a grail that you think will never be obtainable. I still get goosebumps when I think about actually owning such a great piece by Jeff.
Thanks, Jonathan. I framed the piece to leave a 3/4 in. margin around the actual art to show the blue lines that Jeff drew when he was making his square. The art itself was not actually in the center of the paper. He had 2.5 in. above the art and 3.5 in. below which led to the mat having to have the margins it does. It is definitely different but I wouldn't frame it an other way.
The card is by Scott Zirkel. It was one of the preview cards that Josh posted on his blog.
The artist is Ben Hansen. He signs his work 13 14.
