Description

Nazi saboteurs have placed dynamite on a river-spanning trestle as a speeding train carrying war supplies approaches! Mere seconds remain before disaster strikes, but that's more than enough time for: The Whizzer!

As this was one of my very favorite pages from this issue, I knew I had to have one of my very favorite artists draw it. in the 20+ years I've been in this hobby, the one artist I've commissioned more than any other is the incomparable Darryl Banks! Darryl is perhaps best known for his amazing stint on DC's Green Lantern title where he co-created the GL known as Kyle Rayner. But its not just galactic guardians that Darryl draws amazingly well, as you can tell by how he absolutely took this page and blew it away! I especially love panel 5, showing the Whizzer racing past the locomotive. Darryl always delivers!

First of all, I love the Timely heroes and the ret-conned Liberty Legion. I have forever been fond of their two issue stint in Marvel Premiere and their crossover with Thing, BUt this concept for a commission theme is brilliant! Bravo!

Banktastic! A beautiful center panel and the detail of the fingers as the Whizzer throws the dynamite. Wonderful!

And I don't know who edited these two pages together but they did an amazing job on it!
