Description
This one came about after Craig contacted me saying he had an idea for a piece of an Elf King riding a giant elk through the woods and would I be interested in commissioning something like that? Artist commissions collector - ha ha! I suggested the Fairy Queen instead of an Elf King and we agreed we both had Titania in mind with no wings. Got some nice progress pics along the way (including a lovely version of the composition done in coloured pencils) and Craig checked at one point that I'd be ok with a 'dark in feel' Galliano/McQueen type of dress - sure! Those small fairies playing musical instruments in silhouette are just like the illustrations in a 1928 fairy book my late grandfather read as a child and gave to me to also read as a child. An unexpected bit of memory-connection to make the piece feel a bit more sentimental to me than Craig ever intended.

This is gorgeous. And a great story to boot! I like your 2019 resolution to keep the collecting interesting. I had to take a small break a few years ago and decided to expand my horizons a bit as well. Congrats on a great piece!
