DescriptionThis SYD MEAD original has all 3 process, idea sketch, marker drawing, trace line drawing, and final gouache rendering.SYD MEAD's own described to me : I will answer your questions to the best of my recollection. First, the JUNGLE WALKER. 1968 Originally, this was to be part of a corporate promotional book. It wasnft a car, so the agency did not want it in the promotional book for United States Steel. So, since I already had the layout done, I intended to finish it for myself. Then, Ben Delphia, a designer at Chrysler, commissioned me to do an illustration for him. I forget how much I charged him. My idea was to design an articulated, gyro balanced jointed vehicle to be able to go between trees and other jungle features. The scenario is that the machine has stopped at an old crash site, and the crew are investigating the wreckage partially submerged in a swampy terrain, SYD MEAD Social/Sharing |
