Description

Sugar Rush is an evil speedster created by Larissa Lenox and Professor Rothbart as a member of Satan’s Seven. Satan’s Seven are homunculi created to match and defeat the individual members of the super team called the Secret Seven. Sugar Rush is the enemy of Johnny Cyclone, and her candy motif is meant to represent the biblical sin of Gluttony. Rothbart, being a folklore and mythology freak, modeled Satan’s Seven after the Seven Deadly Sins.

Sugar Rush is on a constant sugar high so her eyes are permanently dilated. Her teeth are absolutely wretched from how much candy she’s consumed, so she wears special dentures over them to let her keep gorging.

She’s actually based on obscure speedster Christina Alexandrova, who briefly called herself Lady Flash during the early days of Wally West’s “Flash” series. Christina’s long been one of my favorite Flash villains so I wanted to work her into my Earth-27 continuity.

“Satan’s Seven” are based off the Seven Stakes of Purgatory from the Umineko series.

The sugar aspect is a nod to Christina’s drug addiction.

Nanihoo said she had a lot of fun coloring this one, and I know I'm especially pleased with the way it turned out.
