A fantastic watercolor commission from my friend Niko Henrichon, one of the nicest artists around.

Niko was for me the main attraction of an otherwise tepid Facts edition in terms of artist lineup (imho anyway) so I decided to go full gear on a commission from him after years of great (free) sketches.

I offered him two choices and much to my indecisive self, he liked both. The other one would have been more expensive so I went for (Kirby’s) the Demon.

I’m super glad I did as I find Niko perfectly captured the character. He looks pissed off, dangerous and from an other age. The burning castle background is a fantastic touch. The hellfire fist was my only art director request.

In terms of technique, I love the balance of watercolor, inks and crosshatching.
