This is really wonderful... all the main HUMAN charachters of the Sandman series collectively waking up at the end of the funeral issues. With those episodes, at the same time, the audience that had followed the series for years was eventually coming back from the Sandman world to everyday reality. I might add that everybody - fantasy characters AND actual readers - had improved as human beings after their meeting with the strange gods and demons that populated the Sandman series. Great page, really. I remeber the Michael Zulli late numbers about the funeral to produce in me the greatest involvement of the whole series, second only to the early duel against Choronzon (the moment that got me into the series).
