About Batman Celebrating 80 straight years of comic book adventures this year, Batman has consistently been one of the most popular heroes in comic books, and broader popular culture as well. Batman continues to be the superhero king of all media. His comic books are consistently the best-sellers in the industry week after week. A restart to the Batman movie franchise is scheduled to be released in 2021. Directed by Matt Reeves, the film will feature a new actor in the Batman role, replacing Ben Affleck. The film will reportedly feature a rogues gallery of foes. About the Court of Owls and the Talons The Court of Owls was one of the most significant 21st century additions to the Batman mythos. The Owls are a secret society that has controlled Gotham for hundreds of years and is made up of a violent cabal of Gotham City's oldest and wealthiest families who use murder and money to wield political influence throughout history. The Talons are the muscle that that the Court uses to achieve their goals. Written by superstar Scott Snyder with art by Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion, "The Court of Owls" saga kicked off the New 52 era for Batman. It is one of the most popular Batman stories ever and the Court has already appeared in other media including television, animated film and video games. It's only a matter of time until they appear in a major Batman movie. About the Artists Greg Capullo began his career at Marvel in the early 1990s working first on Quasar and then on X-Force when Rob Liefeld left the title to start Images Comics. Soon Capullo left to work for Image, starting a long association with Todd McFarlane's Spawn, dating back to 1993 when Capullo took over the art on what was one of the biggest selling comic books ever. After years of working with McFarlane, Greg Capullo would go on to become a superstar in his own right as the artist of the New 52 Batman run that began in 2011 and ended in 2016. He's also worked on more recent high profile projects for DC including illustrating all of Dark Nights: Metal, the highly acclaimed DC event series of 2018. His current project is Batman: The Last Knight on Earth, written by Scott Snyder. Jonathan Glapion began his comics career in 1998 at Image. After spending several years at Marvel inking several titles including Ultimate X-Men, he moved over to DC. Since 2007, Glapion has worked on a wide variety of DC titles, including Teen Titans, Green Lantern,Batman with Greg Capullo, and Wonder Woman with David Finch. The artist has received awards such as, the Inkwell Awards 2010 The Props Award and 2013 The Most-Adaptable Inker Award. Note: the piece is offered on two boards. The first one is Capullo's original pencils and the second is Jonathan Glapion's inks over a reproduction of Capullo's pencils. Social/Sharing |
