Description

In this landmark issue titled "Lights Out" the Bat-Signal is removed from the roof of the Gotham City police headquarters. After the "War Games" story event that spanned the DC Comics Batman titles and saw Gotham City descend into a gang war provoked by Batman that spiraled out of control, the GCPD no longer trusts Batman and, against the mayor's wishes, Police Commissioner Akins has the signal taken down.

On this page Commissioner Akins gives the order to city maintenance workers to remove the signal. This issue also marked the last for series artist Michael Lark, who had penciled twenty-one and inked eleven issues of the title up to this point.
