DescriptionOriginal illustration by Sergio Toppi. Cm. 35x40. Mint.Sergio Toppi was born in Milano on the 11th of October in 1932 and died in the same city on the 21st of August in 2012. He is considered one of the main masters of the Italian comic. H debuts in 1966 realizing for the “Corriere dei Piccoli” various series like “Mago Zurlì”, screenplay by Carlo Triberti, a Pietro Micca’s biography in comic and different stories with historical or war setting. In 1972 the “Corriere dei Piccoli” becomes “Corriere dei Ragazzi” for whom he illustrates series such as "Dal Nostro Inviato", "Fumetti-Verità", "Uomini Contro" e "I Grandi nel Giallo". In the 1970s he collaborates with other comic magazines for kids like “Il Giornalino” from 1976 to the 1990s, he also works on “Il Messaggero dei ragazzi” from 1977 to 1979 while also working on the illustration field. He collabs with other Italian comic magazines like “Sgt. Kirk”, “Linus”, “Alter Alter” and “Corto Maltese”, publishing dozens of stories and illustrations. Between the 1976 and the 1978 he realizes for the “Bonelli” three volumes for the storyline Un uomo un'avventura: "L'Uomo del Nilo", "L'Uomo del Messico" e "L'Uomo delle Paludi". One of the most notorious ones is the comic transposition of “delle Mille e una note” called “Sharaz'de” originally, he makes a series out of it on “Alter Alter” in 1979 and later it gets published France and Spain also. In the 1980s he publishes the series “Collezionista” which is the only stable character of his career. He collaborates on the storyline of Larousse: "L'Histoire de France en Bande Dessinées" and "La Découverte du Monde en Bandes Dessinées". In 1989 he paints 22 drawings called “Tarocchi delle Origini” that get published by “Lo Scarabeo” which is located in Torino. Between 2000 and 2005 he realizes a beautiful portfolio for various galleries. Let’s remember the one on Lanzichenecchi at the Sack of Rome and the one on the winged Hussards Polish at the siege of Venice, all of this published by Angelo Nencetti. In 2005 he realizes four covers for the series “Marvel 1602” for the Marvel. After being sick for a long time, he dies at 79 years old. Social/Sharing |
