Description
“The Proscrastinators” (Among Us Mortals, 1/24/1943)
by W.E. (William Ely) Hill (1887-1962)
18.5 x 15 in., ink on board

W.E. (William Ely) Hill (1887-1962) was known for his masterful black and white Sunday page, “Among Us Mortals,” sometimes referred to as the Hill Page. Please see the Gallery description for more about Hill.

From this January 24, 1943 edition, titled “The Procrastinators” some quotes:

“The little wife puts off fixing up her check book till the bank notifies her that she is 14 cents overdrawn. Then she has to draft husband dear to help her with the arithmetic.”

“Most men get attached to the old fedora and put off the purchase of a new hat indefinitely until the wife interferes and says, ‘Allen, I won’t be seen on the street with you till you throw away that awful hat in the ash can.”

I couldn't procrastinate on this one. A gem. 14 cents overdraft these days would be accompanied by a $35 dollar overdraft fee. I am such a dentist procrastinator myself. Great page

I am SUCH a boy scout! Twice a year to my dentist, twice to my opthamologist, and once to my PCP.
