DescriptionIn general, I don't typically delve into collecting animation cels due to their extreme fragility and susceptibility to bending. Additionally, the majority of them, crafted since the 1950s, can't be deemed products of traditional craftsmanship as they lack hand-painted details. However, when I stumbled upon this piece on Heritage Auctions, I couldn't resist taking a stroll down memory lane. Being a 90s kid, The Black Cauldron holds a special place in my heart; it was a VHS staple that served as my gateway into the enchanting realm of fantasy. The nostalgia was simply too irresistible. This particular cel isn't a scene from the movie but is described as a publicity cel. While I'm not entirely sure about the technicalities, my guess is that it was created for Disney's advertising department to promote the movie. The uncanny resemblance to the movie poster adds weight to this assumption. Social/Sharing |
