He debuts at twenty years old creating “Jess Dakota” for the “Edizioni Della Casa”, and in 1951 he lands at the “Il Vittorioso” with “Il trasvolatore Delle Alpi”. He draws some episodes of “Pecos Bill” and of “Oklahoma” for the “Mondadori”. Starting from 1956 he collaborates for about ten years for the English agency “Fleetway” drawing various war stories. In the mid-1960s he ideates along with Renzo Calegari “La Storia del west” (initially proposed to be included inside “Collana Rodeo” of Bonelli editor): a real story of the legendary West and his characters narrated trough the long and documented MacDonald family saga. In 1971 he starts collaborating with “Il Giornalino” as well and later in 1987 he becomes chief of the comics section. He gives birth to many characters such as “Jim Lacy” (1971, Alberto Ongaro’s texts), “Soldato Cascella” (1972, both texts and drawing him), and “Susanna” (1975, texts by him and drawing by Tacconi and Polese). Since the beginning in 1976 he collaborates with the prestigious “Un uomo un'avventura” of “Cepim” (Bonelli). In 1980 he is among the authors chosen by the French “Librairie Larousse” for the fortnightly comics "Histoire du Far West". Along with Ferdinando Tacconi he realizes a wide story of the Second World War. In his last years he’s into the screenplay, and by doing so he confirms himself as a rounded author and Master of the comic. He dies on the 24th of December 2006. Social/Sharing |
