Description

Initial layout for the cover of Avengers #83 featuring the first appearance of Valkyrie.

An alternate cover design for Avengers #83, the 1971 issue that introduced Valkyrie for the first time, as she formed a team of existing Marvel heroines called the Lady Liberators. The short-lived team included the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow and Medusa. On this version of the cover we see that Valkyrie (actually the Enchantress in disguise as we wouldn't meet the genuine Valkyrie for several months) has led the female heroes to take down the male heroes. The art has an approximate image area of 7" X 10".
