Description

Not just one of the most memorable Joker covers of all time, this debuted a new portrayal of the character that became the standard. The Joker had not appeared in a Batman comic since 1969, and here, Adams and writer Denny O'Neil "spearheaded the return of a more lethal than laughable Joker," as Paul Levitz put it. It is also the only Adams Joker cover of his original stint at DC.

This piece sold for a Record price of $600,000 in our 2019 November Signature Auction.
