DescriptionAldo Di Gennaro, illustrazione per Almanacco del Mistero 2012. Tempera su cartone, cm 36x30.Aldo di Gennaro was born in Milano on the 20th of April in 1938. When he’s only fourteen he starts working in a studio where he realizes billboards to set up movie places, by doing he grows his own style to the point where he attends the night classes at the Accademia di belle Arti in Brera. In 1956 he starts collaborating with the “Rinaldo Dami” studio where he works with names such as Sergio Tuis and Renzo Calegari making comic series commissioned by “Fleetway”. In 1961 he starts collaborating also with the “Corriere dei piccolo” for whom realizes at first illustrations for the reduction of the novel “Viaggio al centro della Terra” by Jules Verne. The in 1962 he creates a first comic story called “Il treno del sole” written by Renée Reggiani. This one is followed by “Il piccolo cow-boy”, “Piccole donne”, “Fortebraccio” and many other independent storie. In the 1970s he realizes the “Il Maestro” series based on Mino Milani’s scripts that get published from 1974 to 1976. After a few comic series published on “CorririeBoy” he decides to interrupt his activity as a cartoonist to fully devote himself to illustrating with the “La Domenica del Corriere” and other magazines. He also realizes covers for narrative series of “Rizzoli” and “Club degli Editor”. In the 1990s he starts a long collaboration with the “Sergio Bonelli Editore” for whom in 1997 he realizes a series of illustrations for the “Collana Almanacchi”. It’s about various characters of the publishing house such as “Tex”, “Zagor” and “Martin Mystére”. In 2008 he illustrates the new edition for the novel “Il massacro di Goldena” written by Gianluigi Bonelli in 1956 and starting from 2012 he realizes the cover of the comic series “Le Storie”.
