W.E. (William Ely) Hill (1887-1962) was known for his masterful black and white Sunday page, “Among Us Mortals,” sometimes referred to as the Hill Page. Please see the Gallery description for more about Hill.

Well, here we are, it’s Easter Week 2020 as I post this. Everyone is sheltered at home. The aisle at the store that usually stocks the home paper products is currently filled with pre-made Easter baskets.

From this April 13, 1954 edition, titled “Easter Week” some quotes:

“Doris is home from finishing school for the Easter holiday. Naturally, after a year at Miss Nibbles’ Seminary, she finds her family pretty old-fashioned and dated. Mother had just told her she must be home from the dance by 12, and Doris is ready to throw a tantrum.”

“Easter parade. All the girls who patronized the March fur sales are in their new mink and near-mink, be the day warm or cold, come rain or shine.”
