Carlo Raffaele Marcello was born in Ventimiglia on the 16th of November 1929.
After spending his childhood in Ventimiglia he moves to France where he works on the comics reductions of classics like the Bible for “Mondial Press”; in 1948 he starts a long collaboration with the editor Sagédition collaborating on headlines such as “Aventures” realizing comic series like “Loana, Princesse de la jungle” and “Nick Silver”.
In the 1950s and 1960s he works with various editors and agencies like the “Opera Mundi” and “Mondial Press” for those who realize starting from 1950 comics transpositions of classics published on “France Soir”, “Le Parisien libéré” and then on regular locals.
From 1955 to 1967 he draws “Le cavalier inconnu” on Luigi Grecchi’s texts for the regular “Pepito”, it will be published in Italia as well by “Editrice Cenisio”. From 1960 to 1972 he realizes, always for the “Editrice Cenisio”, the “Rin Tin Tin & Rusty” series on texts by various authors like Luigi Grecchi e Angelo Saccarello. For the series he takes inspiration by the homonymous tv program and it will be reprinted many times by the “Editrice Cenisio” and by the “Sagédition” in France.
In the 1970s he starts collaborating with the weekly “Il Monello” as well and in 1971 he realizes “I Quattro Cavalieri Delle stele” always on Grecchi’s texts. The following year he publishes the “John Parade - Le patrouilleur de l’éspace” series on the French “Le Journal des Pieds Nickelés” magazine. In 1975 he makes the transposition of the tv series “Attenti a quei due” on Victor Mora’s texts for the weekly “Pif Gadget” and will be published in Italia as well by the “Editrice Cenisio”. In 1982 he also realizes the “Cogan” series on Ollivier’s texts. He draws the “Taranis, fils de la Gaule” series on Victor Mora’s texts. On Roger Lecreux’s texts he makes the “Tarao” series, also published in Italia on the regular “Più”. From 1977 to 1980 he illustrates various files of collections for the “Larousse”.
From 1991 he collaborates with the comic magazine “Il Giornalino” and with the “Sergio Bonelli Editore” to realize “Zagor” and “Tex”’s stories.
He dies in Ventimiglia on the 23rd of December 2007.
