Description

This piece was drawn in pen by Jean Giraud on the back of a film program.

It has a nice little story - Giraud was attending the Metz film festival in the 1970s and gave this sketch as a thoughtful gesture to a friend's daughter after she bit into a thin wine glass that broke, unaccustomed to the high end glassware.

I love this piece both for its spontaneity of the art and the humanizing story behind it.

I imagine that this "hippo" should be pink - how about you?
