Description

George Crenshaw (1917-2007) created the cartoon panel Belvedere in 1962 using the pen name Nat Greenwood. Ifm not sure of the reasoning, but Crenshaw was likely under contract elsewhere when he began the feature with Adcox Associates, a tiny syndicate. At some point Crenshaw switched to signing with his true name, thought the style remained the same. The cartoon panel, which ran until 1995, featured Belvedere, a mischievous white dog with black spots. The characterfs popularity rose greatly when the feature moved to Field Enterprises in 1975, which had a larger distribution network. Ifm pleased to be able to offer a very early original from the panelfs run, from December 16, 1964. A frozen, but seemingly unharmed cat is found in the freezer, which Belvedere lurking behind the chest freezer. Did I mention that he was mischievous? This panel is signed with Crenshawfs pen name, NAT, a true rarity. Measuring 8¾hx 9¾h, the panel is in solid Fine+ condition. The artwork comes with the original letter of transmittal from Crenshaw/Greenwood, as well as the shipping envelope. $75.00 + 10.00 shipping. ON HOLD
