DescriptionIMO easily the best comic book cover made this century! I fell in love with this cover the 1st time I saw it. As most of you know, this cover has Matt Wagner's take on the classic Detective Comics #31 cover by Bob Kane from 1939... as well as Neal Adams Batman #227 take from 1970.In this series, Matt Wagner revisits the early Golden Age career of the young Batman in another adventure based on his pre-Robin career. The Dark Knight is learning that there are more twisted faces of evil than those worn by the street criminals and mobsters of Gotham. Now, Batman must counter sinister machinations and new dimensions of wickedness as he confronts the hooded menace of the Mad Monk! I am so happy to have this in my collection! A big thanks to the previous owner who remembered I was interested in this piece & gave me a shot at getting it! Social/Sharing |

Great cover with classic appeal (Tec 31, Batman 227, etc.)! I'm a big fan of this series and Matt Wagner's artwork, congrats!

Right on! Congratulations on this STELLAR cover - a WONDERFUL "reinterpretation" of Detective Comics #31 (as was the whole mini-series); true to the original, but "modernized" in the inimitable Matt Wagner style! Such a tremendous, signature piece - sincere congratulations on this treasure!

Detective Comics # 31 is one of Matt Wagner's favorite Golden-Age covers and his appreciation for the source material shines in this loving tribute. Congratulations on a stellar cover and I am glad to see it has found a great home in your fantastic collection!

This is super cool. Reminds me of old school movie posters.You should definitely high res scan this and blow it up to a classic one sheet poster size. Great pickup.
