Description“THE TIME HAS COME” to share this classic splash of Marvel's #1 villain, Doctor Doom by John Byrne. This FF #278 title splash is one of my favorite memories from Byrne's legendary run on Fantastic Four in the 1980s.Social/Sharing |

About "100% Byrne pencils and inks."
Don't get me wrong, but this page is from the period inked by Jerry Ordway, as stated in the credits. The finish texture is unmistakable.
Truth be told, when I came across these comics in 1985, I didn't quite agree with the decision to have Ordway. I preferred Byrne's own inking. But with the passage of time, I have ended up evaluating this inking very positively. An inking that in regards to the armor of Dr. Doom (Dr. Muerte in Spain), it looks especially good. Congratulations, you have a page worthy of a museum.

DINO SCORES.....GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
A killer example for sure, I hate to say it but Byrne MAY draw Dr Doom just a hair better the the KING Jack Kirby.
HEY no throwing tomatoes, I said just by a hair!

The inks are unquestionably by Jerry Ordway. A fantastic splash, and this tail end of the Byrne run inked by Ordway actually ended up being the most beautiful! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Molto bene Dino. Who doesn't love the powerful imagery of the FF's number one villian. Ordway's inks look great over Byrne's pencils. A great addition to your collection. Cheers ! N.

One of the preeminent Doom images and not hard to see why! Byrne doing his thang. Such a powerful image of Doom and if there's a way to open up a comic, this is it! Congrats!

Hey Dino.. Needless to say, I would have loved to have gone for this beauty myself. But simply
couldn't afford it at that time. However, I'm not one to covet. That, and I'm always pleased, seeing
a masterpiece, like this, going to someone who really does appreciate it as much as I do. Truly, an
amazing score, friend. Thanks for sharing & congrats,

I have loved John Byrne's artwork as long as I can remember. He and Simonson were the first 2 artist's names I recognized and I would buy everything they would draw. People are all about Byrne's X-Men but my favorite Byrne work is Fantastic Four. You can see his love for the characters in every page he drew. This splash is no exception.

No offense to Kirby, but this is what I see in my mind when I think of Doom. Iconic image of Marvel's best villain.
