Description

Bill Everett Silver Surfer #1 Story Page 29 Galactus Splash Original Color Guide Comic Art (Marvel Comics, 1968). From Marvel Comic’s Silver Age – Original color guide comic art of “Galactus” and “Norrin Radd”.

Science Fiction Superhero story line written by the iconic Stan Lee with Biblical parallels and a Christ-like figure. Stan Lee hired talented Marvel art legend Bill Everett, who illustrated the Sub-Mariner in Marvel Comics No. 1, to hand-color John Buscema’s art to this special seminal Giant-Size #1 Issue.

Norrin Radd saved his home planet Zenn-La from the planet devourer known as Galactus by agreeing to serve as his herald. In return, Galactus spared Zenn-La and granted Radd with the Power Cosmic. Radd acquired vast power, a new body and a surfboard on which he could travel faster than the speed of light. Radd was transformed into the Silver Surfer. One who roamed the cosmos in search of planets for Galactus to consume. When the Surfer came upon Earth, he met the Fantastic Four, who helped him rediscover his nobility of spirit. Betraying Galactus, the Surfer saved Earth, but was exiled there as punishment.

Bill Everett was an American comic book artist and writer best known for creating Namor the Sub-Mariner as well as co-creating Daredevil with writer Stan Lee for Marvel.

John Buscema was an American comic book artist and is considered by many to be included on Marvel Comics’ Mount Rushmore of creative talents. Best known for his run on the series The Avengers and The Silver Surfer and for over 200 stories featuring the sword and sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian.

The Art:

Everett utilized a color palette from the Flash Gordon era and the colors seem as brilliant today as they most-likely were over 50 years ago. Accomplished in watercolors on 6 x 8 1/4 inch paper. It is housed in 2 inch archival matting. A truly rare opportunity to own a historically significant piece to one of Marvel’s most beloved characters. In excellent condition.

From a private collection.

Just about any piece (in case of a consignment we will do our best to act as a liaison between the parties involved) on the site is available with reasonable time payments if needed. Possible trade towards any work will be granted consideration as well. Email anytime or try calling between 10AM and 10PM EST daily.
