DescriptionSteve Lightle and Gary Martin were a killer team on the first issues of the 1987 Doom Patrol reboot. I hazard to say that this is one of the best pages of the series and a highlight in both artist's careers. I wish you could see this in person.Social/Sharing |

Fantastic Doom Patrol page! I'm sure it does look even more stunning in person.

Nice art. Lightle doesn't get enough credit for his work. I think he's up there with the best in terms of quality of his art.

Lightle had one of the coolest art styles of the 80's, especially on Legion, and then on this Doom Patrol run. I kept waiting for him to become the next hot star, but it never happened. Killer Robotman page, Steve, congrats!

Great page indeed. I just read an interview of Lightle where he said that issue 2 was basically inked by many friends who pitched in to help relieve deadline pressure. Maybe Mr Martin could shine some light on this?

This is stunning. Agree, these first few issues were monumental in how good the art was.

Stellar page, and you're right: this is one of the very best of the early 80s Doom Patrol.

Congrats on landing this page!! When I was a kid I used to draw Robotman over and over from a few key images throughout Steve Lightle's issues of DP, and this was a prime page that inspired me. I was very tempted to buy it when it came up for sale last year, but you got there ahead of me :)

Great page. Lightle really had a great handle on Robotman. This is a stellar example of that.

Took over 3 years for CAF to highlight this. Also, you paid for shipping.
