Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #528 Cover Original Art (1983), featuring the story
"Requiem for Skulls", with a backup Green Arrow story "Poisoned Art". The main Batman story featured the final appearance of Savage Skull, who was on a tear murdering police officers in Gotham City. This cover features Batman snared by a multitude of daggers, with Savage Skull approaching him, his face reflected in the dagger he is holding on his approach. This is a classic example of the horror elements Gene Colan was known for during his run. Dick Giordiano inks the masterful pencils of Colan, and Anthony Tollin was the colorist for the final cover look and feel (though that was done post this piece of art). Done in ink over graphite on 11" X 17" art board, with stats for the banner, DC and Batman logos, title, and price / date stamps.
