The Family has gathered to wish George a happy birthday, but George's announcement that a meteor is on its way to destroy all life on Earth in three days puts a damper on the festivities.

George learned this information from scientist-wife Jane, via his newly acquired brain reading abilities. Which also has the serendipitous benefit of allowing him to communicate with Astro.
