DescriptionI'm not sure if this is one panel of a multi-panel gag, or if it's a stand-alone piece. Since there's no gag marked on the piece, I'm assuming that it's part of a multi-image gag, which was common in the pages of Puck magazine. The piece is circa 1900, and is from that transitional period of Opper's, from the finer line drawing to the raucous bigfoot stuff. I prefer this transitional period work, and Opper's bigfoot stuff to his earlier, more realistic stuff. Plus, the expression here is just wonderful.Social/Sharing |
