DescriptionBen Templesmith"Brains Please!" 2013 8 x 10 in (?) Ink on paper I'm not entirely certain, but this might be the first piece I commissioned from Ben at NYCC. Every commission request that I have ever been foolish enough to make in person from Ben follows a similar pattern. I ask him to draw me something. He says no, he can't draw that. I remind him that he is sitting behind a table of amazing things that he has absolutely drawn the shit out of. He tells me he's no good with likenesses despite the fact that I am almost certainly not asking for a likeness of anyone. The dance continues. The reason I think this is the first commission I got from Ben in person is that it's absolutely not what I originally wanted. I'm pretty sure I finally just gave up, threw money on the table, shouted "Just draw me a damn zombie!", and ran away before he could refuse. I've stuck to my guns better in future negotiations.
