DescriptionI mostly look for pieces by specific artists, but sometimes I just like something. The concept of an evil Velma and the team in a post apocalyptic world seemed pretty cool. What drew me to this piece was the artist’s use of perspective and the way the panels told a story. Here’s what I found out about this issue-Velma has turned her back on humanity and made herself queen of the mutants. In her throne room, a gorilla-like servant drags in Daphne. Velma wants to know the location of the last human outpost, but Daphne won't tell her. Velma instructs “Magilla” to get "the Inquisitors" to extract the information, then kill Daphne (some bad blood there, huh!). Meanwhile, in Humantown, the last bastion of the surviving human race, Fred worries about the missing Daphne. Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby are summoned to the command post, where the leader of the resistance, Commander Dinkley (Velma’s brother), has bad news. He tells them that Velma's forces are closing in and the situation looks grim. Shaggy thinks he can still turn Velma, but even Velma's own brother knows that it's too late. The gang sets off to find Daphne, but they are stopped by one of Velma's underlings, who is under orders to take them to see her. Velma gives the guys one last chance to stand by her side—transformed as mutants, of course. An outraged Fred demands to see Daphne. She agrees to take them to her. But once there, they find Daphne’s corpse. The guys refuse to join Velma’s forces, which equates to a death sentence. Shaggy pleads with her to stop her attack on Humantown, but Velma will not be moved. She sits on her throne and does nothing as her evil minion’s surround and tear Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby to pieces (ouch). But, luckily it was all just a nightmare from a 103 degree fever. The gang is still together! Social/Sharing |
