Description

Old time comic collectors may remember a feature published during the 1960s in the title Star Spangled War Stories by the title The War that Time Forgot. That was created by Robert Kanigher, oftentimes with art by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. It actually ran for eight years, ending in 1968... and then returned as a 12-issue limited series in 2008.

The stories were a young teen boy's dreams of the '60s: soldiers, fantasy, science fiction and dinosaurs. Those Kanigher stories had a group of American soldiers that were stranded on an uncharted island during the Pacific War and there they discover it is overrun with dinosaurs. Of course, they called it Dinosaur Island.

The 2008 series had some great covers by such artists as Neal Adams, Brian Bolland, Mark Schultz, Russ Heath, and this one by Michael Kaluta. Velociraptors and WWII airplanes all in the same panel. Good stuff.

Odd assemblage of characters, looks like more than WWII soldiers. Great cover in any case. Congrats.
