It arose at the proposal of the writer Pascual Enguídanos (better known to many by his pseudonyms George H. White and Van S. Smith), whose series La saga de los Aznar was published in the collection. It was a popular science fiction collection in every sense of the term: both because it corresponds to what could be called "series B" or "pulp literature" and because of the great popularity it has enjoyed among fans of the genre. These 234 novelitas, "reviled by some, despised by many and read by almost all science fiction fans (except the youngest)", as José Carlos Canalda affirms in his study of the series, were published fortnightly between 1953 and 1963 and were written by a total of 27 authors.
