Description

Huge fan of Mark Texeira! Does not get the attention he deserves. Just a fantastic artist! Ankur pointed this out to me on Comic Connect, and just fell in love with it. It has Ghost Rider with Batman and Spawn! And on top of that, I have the Joe Quesada Punisher cover to Wizard #87, so thought a beautiful cover is now even cooler somehow.

I remember being a kid and having an odd love/hate relationship with Texeira's work. I was used to the flashy line work of guys in the early 90s like Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri, Todd McFarlane, and so on. Tex's work didn't have the level of flashiness those other artists did, BUT. Texeira's work was so unique on books like Union from Image Comics. And I distinctly recall, as an avid Wizard magazine buyer and reader, staring at this cover for #87. I adored it. Not only did it feature these big name characters from more than one of the top comic book company universes at the time, but the characters had this almost rusty yet vivacious quality to them. The characters chosen for this cover were all fierce major players of their respective companies. It was so cool seeing them in ways I wasn't used to seeing them AND posing right alongside each other.

Remember this Wizard cover distinctly! All 3 look great but GR is definitely the headliner. So, so good. Congrats!
