These photos from the family that owned The Inkwell, a bar and restaurant in Manhattan in the 1940s, show the Dan Smith original for “Heroism of “The First American” Revealed by a Tell-Tale Arrow” hanging on the wall among all the other art that decorated the popular cartoonists’ hangout.
